What is Process Safety?

Process Safety is a disciplined framework for managing the integrity of operating systems and processes handling hazardous substances by applying good design principles, engineering, and operating practices.

Process Safety involves making sure facilities are well designed, safely operated and properly maintained to prevent leaks, fires, explosions and technical failures

Process Safety applies equally to relatively simple processes to those more complex procedures typically seen within oil refineries and chemical processing plants.  A simple process performed poorly has just as much potential to cause a significant incident as a complex process at a major installation.

Process Safety aims to assist staff at all levels in an organisation to develop or improve their knowledge of Process Safety, hazards, risk and their subsequent management.

The risks associated with Process Safety are diverse, but the benefits that arise from careful management are extensive, having a positive direct impact on an organisation.
