Brief account of the incident
A crane owned and operated by a contractor working on site struck a pipe bridge causing damage to the structure of the bridge along with superficial damage to some of the pipework. The driver had been requested to carry out an additional lift at a different location on site, which involved fully de-rigging the crane to travel across the site. Whilst on route the cranes hook and jib struck the pipe bridge ridge.
